Subject: QCBC Spring Tailwind Ride
From: Emily Horn

Two weeks till the QCBC spring tailwind ride!

Take advantage of these windy spring days and enjoy 100 miles with the wind at your back!  The ride will take place a week earlier than normal this year on Saturday April 26; a rain date is set for Sunday April 27.

The route will be 100 miles and will be sent out via Ride with GPS the day before the ride and paper maps will be available the day of.  Riders will meet at the parking lot at the east end of Ben Butterworth Parkway on Saturday morning.  Bikes will be loaded onto a truck and riders will be transported via bus to the starting point of the ride.  The bus will depart sharply at 7 a.m. and the ride normally starts around 9 a.m.  Lunch will be served around halfway on the route, but there will be no other supported stops and no support vehicles.

We currently have 20 riders signed up so the event will take place unless both days have bad weather.  Please register if you are interested; if I don’t have more people registered by the 22nd then I will rent a smaller truck and will lower the registration limit to ensure we break even.  The price is $50 for members and $55 for non-members.  If you have any questions please reach out to me.

Ride Date:  April 26

Loading Location:  5420 Old River Drive, Moline, IL 61265 (parking lot at east end of Ben Butterworth Pkwy)

Volunteers Still Needed

I am looking for a volunteer truck driver for the day of the event.  They won’t be able to do the ride and ideally have some experience driving a 26’ moving tuck.

I am looking for someone with a lockable trailer that could sit in the parking for the day to hold people’s belongings during the ride.  I can provide pickup and drop off of the tailer and keep it secured to my van.

Happy Riding,

Emily Horn
