QCBC – Dream Team Des Moines Presentation

In support of Dream Team Des Moines, the Quad Cities Bicycle Club presented a $3,000 check through funds raised during our charter registration. Pictured left to right – Front Row is QCBC Board Members Deb Mathias, Mark Doeckel and Ken Urban. Center Row are QCBC Members the legendary Dean “Bareback” Mathias with Charter Service Director Dixon Novy presenting the check to Dream Team Executive Director Jeff Van Genderen along with mentors Angie Larson & Eric Larsen on the bike. Dream Team mentors Dan Carlson, David Behrens (hidden) and Nate Wise are in the back row.

We continue our annual donation by applying $10 of your weeklong RAGBRAI Charter registration to the Dream Team, and by registering our weeklong guests for a chance to win an official RAGBRAI LI cycling jersey.

Dean “Bareback” Mathias is the 2019 winner of the prestigious RAGBRAI Rider Cup.

Every year since 1992, RAGBRAI’s Rider Cup Award has been presented to the club or team that best promotes the RIDE RIGHT philosophy before and during the annual bicycle ride across Iowa. During the 2019 RAGBRAI Route Announcement Party, Mark Wyatt of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition proudly presented the Rider Cup to Bareback, the first individual to ever receive the honor. Bareback will be forever etched on the traveling cup with all previous winners.

The QCBC Charter is proud to have Dean "Bareback" Mathias as an honored member of our team.

Bareback was also instrumental in the Quad Cities Bicycle Club being awarded the Rider Cup in 2014.
