Thanks you for all your hard work. I have to say that this RAGBRAI kicked my ass. I finished and survived. I had no problem with the heat, hills and miles we bicycled. The towns and people of Iowa were great. The camp crew did a great job and the camp sites were wonderful.

Being from Coastal California the heat, humidity, lack of real food and sleep leveled me. My tent was so hot at night that it was impossible to sleep. The tornado warning and high wind scared the death out of me. I take our California wildfires, mudslides and earthquakes over an Iowa tornado.

Being older, the first few days I didn’t stop for the breakfast, lunch or beer. I peddled were snacks that the camp supplied and grocery/ gas station mini mart food. There were a few towns that were close enough and the shuttle allowed us to town which was nice. Some of the shuttle lines were over an hour which took some of the fun away. There were also the long lines at the main camp, where the carnival food stations were. After the long bicycle miles, heat and humidity, I just wanted to lay down after I put my tent up after taking a shower. I did make a mistake and had spicy Thai food at one town. I was lucky because I was able to make it back in time for a Big D attack. The problem was waiting in line to use the toilets.

The other charters looked like a disaster. On the way out of Des Moines I realized how lucky we were to be with the Quad Cities charter. There was as least an hour wait just to drop the gear off at the truck. The other larger charters had long lines to use the toilets and showers, I never waited more than 5 or 10 minutes to use our toilets.

The bicyclists in our charter were a great mix of nice people. I had a number of great conversations and good times. I was told that this year’s RAGBRAI had more miles than in the past and might have been the hottest that they could remember.

When I finished and rode the last five miles back to our car along the Mississippi I teared up some. Being 70 years old I could not believe I survived to tell my family about my ride across Iowa. One of our camp mates rode the last mile with me. He told me it was nice meeting me and that he would see me next year. All I could say was “We will see”.

We enjoyed the bonus smore’s they prepared at the Pocahontas campsite and Jamey's chicken Alfredo in a cup at Mason City. Their can-do attitude and focus on the riders helped make our overnight stays enjoyable.

We also enjoyed reading the stats you prepared on the breakdown of the charter service guests.

Hi Dixon,

Thanks for everything you and your team did to make this an extraordinary trip! Although Martha and I did not use the camping services as we had home hosts for all 7 days, we did enjoy sitting at the camp site after the ride to unwind and talk with others. We even met folks from NJ were we used to live and rode with them in the past. It was all great. The transportation of luggage and our tandem was flawless and very well organized.

The only suggestion I have would be to try to improve upon the snack selections for healthier items like fruit and vegetables. I assume those items may have been hard to get is some of the small towns. I know when they did have those items, they were taken quickly! Bonus points for chocolate milk!

As far as future a RAGBRAI for Martha and I, I think this will be our last. I like to go out on top and this year was simply the best with excellent weather and accommodations. I do not think I would be able to replicate that again!

I want to be sure you knew that I had to abandon RAGBRAI during Tuesday's ride. Around 8:15am on Tuesday, my wife contacted me and told me of a family emergency back home. After that, I put the hammer down and made it to camp around 9:45am, but then it was panic time to figure out the logistics to get me out of Iowa, back to Bettendorf and finally drive back to Virginia. The RAGBRAI coordinators removed a merchandise trailer from a RAGBRAI truck and picked me up at camp and then they drove me and my bags the 5 hours back to Bettendorf. Extremely grateful for what they did to help me with the family emergency.

Thank you for everything you did for the 3 days I was there. I enjoyed it immensely and I'll see you next year, for sure. I hope you had a good ride and continue to be safe.

Just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for letting my friends and I from Team High Life join your group this year. And to let you know that we could tell you did a lot of work through the year to make things go so smoothly and it was very appreciated.

The group you hired were top notch and I hope you get to keep using them, they definitely knew what they were doing. The new shower system was awesome, and they worked out the minor kinks throughout the week as they learned how it best operated. Not sure how they compared cost wise with hiring people for the week but any extra money was well worth it.

Next year we expect our team to be back in barring a major COVID setback so I doubt we will be using your camping service. But if High Life sits out again I would definitely go with QCBC as well as recommend your group to anybody who needs a service. Depending on where the route finishes up I may use your bus service as that was first class and I am too old/smart to sit in an old school bus! So here is hoping for a Davenport finish in 2022.

Next year if you see us on the road stop by and say hello and we will buy you a beer.

Registration, loading and the bus ride to Le Mars were exactly on schedule and everything went smoothly. The daily logistics were all efficient and predictable. The only surprises were positive: Unlimited cold beverages, snacks, pizza night, morning coffee, etc.

I can't say enough about the Argo crew. It is rare to see a group of people work so hard and maintain a positive attitude. I don't know when they slept because they were working before sunrise and long after everyone was in their tents at night. They are a first-class family and organization!

I'm ready to do it all again! Thanks again!

Though the south route was more difficult for me the camps you found for us were outstanding. Every year I meet a few more people who join the group and though I grumbled I will not come back if the route is south again I know I will. It's the smaller club atmosphere where everyone is genuinely happy and willing to help another rider.

Hats off to the behind-the-scenes crew who lugged baggage, bikes and set up camp each day. What an amazing group of people.

I wish I had the ability to participate in more QCBC functions but being in Chicago suburb squashes that.

My friend, Richard Lotz, rode with QCBC (his first time on RAGBRAI) and though worried about the crowds before the ride, he had a great time and QCBC took excellent care of him.

I am about to be on an Iowa adventure of my own... as I am moving to Cedar Rapids at the end of this month! So I just wanted to check in and see if you were able to resell my RAGBRAI and/or QCBC credentials. Let me know whenever you get a chance and also if a forwarding address is needed for anything. I will be here in Galesburg until the last week of August (I think) but I will be in Iowa after that. I will change my address in the QCBC database as soon as I am in Iowa.

Thanks for another great RAGBRAI. The QCBC Charter service did a great job.

As I mentioned to you yesterday we left our bike computers on the chargers Friday night not realizing that the truck would be gone so early. I talked to the guy at the truck yesterday at the Isle of Capri and he said he left them on a mat or something in Burlington and he thinks you should have them.

We had three items left on the chargers. 2 Garmin Bike Computer with the initials S-N and L-H-N on the backs and the charger. We also had one battery pack and its charger.

Hopefully you have these. If you let us know we can come and pick them up at your convenience.

I and my riding buddies Phil and Rita thoroughly enjoyed our first RAGBRAI. I've been telling everyone here what a great experience it was. I still have my RAGBRAI and QCBC bracelets on! Can't bear to take them off yet. My wife and sister keep kidding me about it, "What Bill, do you think they're still riding up there and you can just go up and rejoin them? Hahaha"

I thought QCBC did a great job. The only thing I would have liked improved was signs leading us the QCBC campsite in town. Two or 3 days we had a hard time finding the campsite.
